Pete the Greek Seminar Success!
Thank you to Pete Letsos for coming to SC to #wristlocktheworld! Wrist locks are everywhere but it’s when and how to use them that can make the match go in your favor every time. Lots of interesting techniques were taught and the members will be taking those forward to add to their games.
RGSC Class Schedule continues to grow.
At RGSC we continue to adjust our schedule to try and meet the needs of our members and get the most effective training in possible during the week. We are open 7 days. We have day, lunch and evening classes. We hope you all can find the best time to get on the mats.
First Seminar in new location was a success!
A big thank you to Shawn Williams from Renzo Gracie Nashville for coming to our first Seminar in our new location at 4474 Liberty Highway in Anderson SC. Our members had a great time and walked away with a lot to practice!
RGSC is Moving!
Renzo Gracie South Carolina started just over 2 years ago because we found the perfect location on North Main Street, in the great town of Anderson! Now thanks to the amazing people we have as members we are in need of more space!
Starting in September 2023 we will be at 4474 Liberty Highway in Anderson! More space, more classes and so much more! Come in to see for yourself!

Women’s Jiujitsu Class is up and running!
Starting in the new year we began a women’s only class to encourage women to try out jiujitsu. We know it can be intimidating walking into a gym full of men. But this sport is for everyone!
So far we are beyond impressed with the women who are showing up to learn a new skill and have a lot of fun at the same time!

Another Successful Seminar in the Books!
We had the huge privilege of Roberto “Gordo” Correa visiting Renzo Gracie South Carolina for a Seminar on August 20th. I had met him a handful of times before this, but it was a great time having him here for a couple days and bringing such exceptional value to the members of this school.
Everyone was excited to use what he taught this day in the next weeks classes and had great success adding it to their growing game.
We also celebrated two belt promotions on this day. From white to blue, and blue to purple. Such a proud moment. Building a team of amazing people who work hard and play hard too!
When Kids Enroll in Jiu Jitsu
It has been said that Jiu Jitsu is great for anybody at any age. However, I think we can all agree that starting young is ideal. I often find myself wondering where I would be if I had started BJJ at 5 or even 10. Many of us are not fortunate enough to start early, but we can ensure our own children do. Here are the top benefits kids can gain from training BJJ.
Confidence/ Self Defense– Jiu Jitsu shows kids that they do have what it takes to stand up for themselves against bullies, and to do what’s right. So many kids are victims of bullies and Jiu Jitsu is a great way to stop this and radiate confidence in all aspects of life.
Focus– Jiu Jitsu gives kids something real to focus on and enjoy in a world that has been dominated by video games and television. Many kids these days don’t want to participate in normal school sports and Jiu Jitsu is great year-round activity
Health – Related to the above topic, Jiu Jitsu is great exercise and promotes a healthy lifestyle. Obesity is at its highest point and it’s important that we keep the next generation healthy.
Socialization – Bonding with your kids sometimes becomes hard as they grow up, but if you start them young and train with them, then you will always have something to talk about and do together.
Life Skill – Jiu-Jitsu gives them a real skill that can in fact do great things. They could be the next young prodigy and kill the competition scene, but they will always have the option of starting their own academy down the road and living the martial arts lifestyle.

Renzo Gracie South Carolina is celebrating their first year in Business!
The first anniversary of opening Renzo Gracie South Carolina and Thunderdome Jiu Jitsu is May 24th! This year has been like no other for our family and we are so thankful for the amazing people in Anderson and the towns surrounding that travel to train with RGSC weekly. They welcomed us with open arms and supported us from day one. Bringing the name of Renzo Gracie to Anderson is a huge honor and definitely perked the attention of local Jiujitsu lovers to come check us out.
We are excited to see what year two brings. Seminars and Tournaments will help this team grow and be a force in the Upstate Jiujitsu community. But as the saying goes “Mat time don’t lie” The more you train, learn and put that into practice the better you will get.
If you have been thinking about trying this sport, do not wait another day. Walking in the door is the hardest part. Once you are here you will see that it’s not only a great workout, confidence builder, and stress reliever but also a family and a way of living.
In Celebration of our one-year anniversary we will be having open mats Friday May 27th at 10 am, Saturday the 28th at 11 am, Sunday the 29th at 11 am and Monday Memorial Day at 11 am.
After training on Saturday, we will be doing a potluck style cookout at our house. Let us know if you think you can make it and contact us for more details.
New Classes on RGSC Schedule!
As we grow and find out the needs of our members we also grow and adjust things to meet those needs. Recently we have added two new class times to the schedule.
For those early risers we have a 6:15 am on Wednesdays. This class will also grow to more days in the future but is just Wednesday for now.
The 11:00 am class that we had running is changing to 9:30 am. Same class just a little earlier in the day.

RGSC Winter Seminar was a great Success!
Another great day at Renzo Gracie South Carolina. Thank you to Professor Marcelo Cruz from Renzo Gracie Rhode Island for coming down and teaching at this Seminar. Our students were very grateful to be able to meet you and learn from you! We also celebrated two of our members becoming blue belts! Professor PJ is very proud of these two as well as everyone that has entered RGSC and become a member. We love the team we are building here in Anderson and look forward to more Seminars in the new year!
Happy Halloween from RGSC!
Our kids program had a fun night celebrating Halloween with some fun games and costume parade. Our kids program ranges in ages from 5-15 and has been very successful in the short amount of time we have been open. We are very thankful for all of our students and love when they come to class excited to improve!
First Competition in the books!
We have been open for 4 months and have had great success with over 30 students joining our family and team. With competition in our background we knew we wanted to set a tone that competing is a great way to develop an overall game. We never thought we would be bringing a team of 7 into a competition this early. It started with one member wanting to get that first experience in asap and then others joined with eager anticipation with roughly a months notice.
These seven along with their training partners did a fast and aggressive training camp to prepare. They surprised us with how much they have learned in such a short amount of time.
The white belts did their very best, listened to the advice and used every ounce of will they had to get their arms raised. Even in moments of defeat they were grateful learning along the way. The blue belts have immediately adapted to the game professor wants them to develop and showed so much resilience and technique.
We are very proud of all our students, the ones that competed and the ones that helped them get ready.
We are excited to build this competition team and come back again with so much more. We appreciate your trust in our system, our guidance and desire to make you better while keeping you safe. Thank you all again for your support, effort and time on the mat!

Grand Opening Celebration Success!
July 31st we held our Grand Opening to celebrate the success we have had so far and bring people together to show what we have built here in Anderson SC. We had team members from Rhode Island and Massachusetts join us as well as the support from other gyms in South Carolina and Georgia.
It was a great day with over 50 people on the mats at the same time, sharing their love for jiujitsu. We had all ages from 4 to 64 and every shape and size, which is why this sport is so amazing. Everyone is welcome to try it and you never know who will become amazing at it!
The people we celebrate the most are our new students. The ones that found us, heard about us, came through our doors, tried our classes and committed to becoming better in a variety of different ways. Those are the people we are most proud of and were so happy to celebrate! Thank you to everyone who showed up, it means the world to us the amount of support we have and will continue to work hard to make this the best school in town!

Renzo Gracie South Carolina Now Open!
You may have all been wondering what was going on inside the old Red Moose in Durham Center Plaza. Some of you may have met us as we prepared the space, we loved meeting our new neighbors during those few weeks.
Renzo Gracie South Carolina comes to Anderson as a new Brazilian Jiujitsu School for anyone and everyone to come try and say hello! Our family is new to the area and are excited to meet the people of Anderson County.
Please check out our website, come in and say hello and ask us all the questions you have. We are here for all ages, types, sizes and skill levels. You do not need to be in shape to try jiujitsu. We are here to teach a skill that builds confidence and strength while meeting new friends that become like family!
